Internship Training Program

Started in 2009 as a pilot program with funding support from Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Internship Training Program is an advanced training institute combining theory and professionally supervised direct practice in the area of child sexual victimization. The training focuses on comprehensive trauma and abuse assessments and related intervention and treatment in this highly specialized area of practice.

The innovative, intensive curriculum was developed by the THRIVE team with input from experts in the field, and was piloted by this group. There were six graduates of the pilot Internship Program. Our sincere thanks to the Children's Aid Society of Hamilton, the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Hamilton, and the Regional Indian Centre for their support of the pilot.

The Internship Training Program continues to provide an intensive and specialized curriculum and receives excellent evaluative feedback from graduating interns. It focuses on research and best practices, offering participants the "how to" of comprehensive trauma and abuse assessment and related intervention and treatment.
